GCC boasts three winners of the 2012-2013 National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award: Dr. Julie Morrison, Psychology; Lisa Deibolt, Chemistry; and Wei-Jen Lee, Chemistry.
The NISOD Excellence Award is designed to recognize faculty who meet at least one criteria of teaching excellence in the delivery of innovative pedagogy; inspirational teaching; serving as a role model; being a leader in content expertise; and/or being involved in outreach. GCC’s 2012-2013 winners were nominated based on their teaching excellence in not just one, but all of these areas.
This is an annual award with which GCC has honored its faculty since the 2005-2006 academic year. In addition to receiving recognition by GCC, award winners are also recognized by NISOD at its annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence, held in Austin, Texas each May.
More than 700 community colleges around the world are members of NISOD, which was founded in 1978.
Susan Campbell led the eight-person CTLE advisory board subcommittee that reviewed applications and selected the 2012-2013 winners. Stay tuned for GCC’s new 2013-2014 awardees, who will be announced in January.
