Welcome! It’s your first year in college and we know you want to make sure you do everything right, and hopefully have a little fun while you’re at it. Perhaps you began this journey at the Enrollment Center, and already met with an advisor. Maybe you’ve even mapped out the courses you’ll take next semester. I bet you’ve already navigated the buildings on campus, discovered the best parking spots, and even met up with friends to eat, study, grab a cup of Joe, or just hang out in the Student Union.
Whatever you’ve done so far, it’s just the beginning – and it can be a lot to take in. Understandably, this educational journey can be overwhelming, challenging, and confusing at first, but be encouraged because it will also be rewarding!
So, now that you’re here at GCC and just getting started, I’ve got a question for you: What are you going to do next?
I don’t mean later today, or even tomorrow. I’m talking about much later, like in a year to two from now. What are you going to do after you’ve completed your associate’s degree?
Have you thought about that yet? If you have, great! If you haven’t, you should. Consider this: If you think the last two years of your life flew by quickly, realize that the next two will not be any different. Before you know it, you will have earned an associate’s degree. Then what? What’s your plan for completing your bachelor’s degree?
It’s not too early to start thinking about it. In fact, having a plan now will ease the transition when you’re ready to finish your degree. Northern Arizona University can help with that transition. Did you know you could earn a bachelor’s degree from NAU without leaving the GCC campus? It’s true! NAU is located right here on campus and offers several degree completion programs – and we have launched a new program that might be just right for you.
Connect2NAU is partnership agreement between the Maricopa County Community Colleges and Northern Arizona University. This program allows you to be admitted as a student to NAU while attending GCC. The application is FREE and you’ll receive many of the benefits of being a student at NAU. You’ll receive an NAU email account and student ID card. You’ll have access to the award-winning Cline Library services online. You’ll also work with advisors from both institutions. Then after you’ve completed your associate’s degree and are ready to transition to NAU, the process will be smooth because you’ll already be a student! Another great aspect of this program is that you can attend any NAU campus that you choose – whether it’s GCC or another local extended campus, online or in Flagstaff. Keep in mind, there is never any obligation to attend NAU; it’s really more like a placeholder for you. So whether you’ve already got a few classes under your belt or none at all, let us help you plan for the least expensive route to a four year degree at NAU.
