Win Diamondbacks Game Tickets: Submit your Glendale Community College commencement story

Congratulations to April Hammonds who won this contest and received four Diamondbacks game tickets and free parking compliments of Screenvision Direct!

Read April’s graduation story below:

April Hammonds
April changed her life and transformed herself at GCC. Earning an Associate in Arts and AA in General Studies, she lost more than 200 pounds along the way. Asked to leave high school when she became pregnant, years later she came here to campus for her GED. She continued on. It was a struggle going to college while being a single parent and taking care of her mother who is battling a rare form of cancer. GCC’s fitness and wellness staff worked with April to help change her lifestyle with an exercise and eating program. Volunteering in our adaptive gym, she found her calling and is transferring to Northern Arizona University’s Physical Therapy program. April, nor her son, have ever been to a baseball game and she is very excited to be given this graduation gift.

In appreciation to GCC graduates – past, present and future, we want to give you D-backs tickets! You can win tickets to the 6:40 p.m., May 20 Diamondbacks game vs the Twins. The tickets are at suite level; section 212, row 5, right up the third base line.

We’re looking for the best personal story inspired by Glendale Community College commencement. Maybe you have a story about your own graduation this semester or maybe it’s about a friend or family member.
